What is a Loafkin?
Whoever came up with the name Cupcake? Although they may feel like a recent phenomenon – and certainly their popularity has boomed since their mention in Sex and The City – the first mention of the cupcake can be traced as far back as 1796! A recipe notation of “a cake to be baked in small cups” was written in American Cookery by Amelia Simmons.
In three hundred years time it’s quite possible that someone will be asking the same question of the Loafkin – and you will have read it here first! A loafkin is an individual cake baked in the shape of a small loaf – available in a variety of flavours just like your favourite large loaf cakes.
